Bananarac feat. Dampfwerk Immature Grape Brandy

Are you a banana fan? Well, welcome to the cocktail of your dreams. Well, maybe. I’m not sure what you dream about! This Old-Fashioned riff is a little out there and may require some shopping for things that don’t frequent your bar cart. But I wouldn’t recommend something unless I think you’d enjoy it again, and again, and again. So save up some dollars and hit your bar cart!


Pernod absinthe (or any French absinthe)

1 oz Dampfwerk Barreled Immature Grape Brandy

1 oz Nikka Coffey Grain Whiskey

1/2 oz Giffard Banane du Brésil

1/2 oz Demerara Gum Syrup

Garnish: 1 lemon twist


Rinse an Old-Fashioned chilled glass with the absinthe; I have a spritzer, so I ended up spritzing the glass, which did the job. Dump any remaining absinthe in the glass. Stir all remaining ingredients on ice and then strain into the glass. Twist and garnish the lemon wedge.

What an unusual cocktail… I hope that doesn’t turn you off from trying it. Any at home bar enthusiast should always explore the possibilities of combining new spirits together, especially a versatile gin! Well enough of my blabbering, if you feel wicked enough… Try this one out.
