HERBAL LIQUEUR

What do German-style liqueurs and the Dampfwerk have in common?

Timelessness.

Reinventing liqueurs that come from a 200-year-old vintage German Rezeptbücher ensures that these spirits will never go out of style, and will always be around to warm up your evening.

Helgolander Liqueur

  • The name Helgolander comes from an island in the North Sea of Germany; it was considered a safe haven for sailors, ‘pirates’, and the like. This herbal liqueur is inspired by a recipe over 150 years old and is certainly a rollercoaster of flavors.

The first sip is unlike the last, especially as the palate becomes acquainted with the bitterness of cinchona, gentian root, and bitter orange peel. Bright in color, this liqueur has a “chartreuse-y” pop in the middle ground of the spirit!

  • 15 different spices and botanicals, including gentian root, valerian, turmeric, bitter orange, star anise, and cinnamon.

  • Maceration.

Orange Liqueur

  • An orange liqueur that features a unique fruit brandy base distillate: obstler.

Obstler is a medley of distilled fruit, such as plums, apricots, pears, and apples. All in the ease of supporting the orange's juicy profile. A lighter, drier version of orange liqueur that we may be familiar with.

  • Orange, obstler brandy, orange blossom, grapefruit, and lime.

  • Maceration.

Rabbit in the Rye Liqueur

  • This liqueur was a happy little accident! Rye whiskey was never intended to be included in the liqueur, but after spending a short stint in a rye whiskey barrel, the spices and botanicals showed the marriage between the rye and their warming spices.

This liqueur is commonly referred to as our “cocktail in a bottle” as it has all the qualities of a rye whiskey old fashioned, sans ice… Good spice on the front end with the black pepper rye whiskey backbone.

  • Rye whiskey, cinnamon, ginger, clove, cubeb, and Seville oranges.

  • Maceration.

Pfefferminz Peppermint Schnapps

  • In our attempt to create a chartreuse-style liqueur, we landed on a recipe that was perfectly suited to peppermint schnapps.

An elevated liqueur with subtle floral notes; a soft bitterness on the backend to cut through the viscosity of this spirit; and a cooling peppermint on the finish.  It all comes together to provide a different perspective on what peppermint schnapps can be.

  • French peppermint, hyssop, blessed thistle, yarrow flowers, misc. roots.

  • Maceration, distillation, and blending.

Heide Liqueur

  • This herbal liqueur is a spiritual nod to Chartreuse with a Saxon German soul.  As you would expect, The Heide is crafted with the same intentionality and German engineering that all Dampfwerk spirits undergo.

On the nose, floral and citrus notes are followed by a warm, herbaceous base.  We view this as an excellent bridge between an aperitif and a digestif.

  • Heather, chamomile, lemon verbena, thyme, rosemary… And 21 other botanticals!

  • Maceration.

Pfeffersack Fernet

  • A bone-dry fernet that focuses on a juniper & peppermint relationship. This fernet was modified from an old German herbal liqueur recipe that was rooted in the Old-World spice trade.

A complex fernet that showcases soothing botanicals behind its initial bitter kick…

  • Saffron, juniper, peppermint, aloe, myrrh, and rhubarb.

  • Maceration.
